NEW ZEALAND lock John Lockwood has been quoted by The Irish Sunday Times as saying that his fingerprint locks are not as secure as he would like.
Mr Lockwood, who played for the Crusaders, was speaking after a press conference at the National Lock Building in Dublin.
“I think the idea of a fingerprint lock is one of the most insecure things you can do.
There are a lot of people who think that a fingerprint is the safest thing that you can have.
I’m not saying that’s not true, I’m just saying that the idea is not as safe as you would like it to be.”
The lock has not yet been used by the Crusades but it was the first time that a lock was in use by the nation’s top professional team.
“There are some people who believe it’s better than a fingerprint, because you can’t do anything to it.
But I wouldn’t be very comfortable putting my finger on a fingerprint,” Mr Lockwood said.
Mr Locke is set to return to New Zealand for a second stint with the Crusade on Wednesday night.
“It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a while, and I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment,” Mr Locke said.
“We’ve got some games to play on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday.
We’ve got to do the game and I just want to make sure I’ve done all my homework and that I understand all the requirements and all the precautions that are put in place before the game.”
Mr Lockridge also said that he does not use his lock on the field as often as he should.
“But I think it’s a good idea to have it on the outside,” he said.
He added that he is happy with the performance of his team and his performance in the match, and that he feels comfortable using the lock on his own, in addition to using it in training.
