A few hours after the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision, President Donald Trump told a group of supporters in a rally that he would “never” vote to overturn the ruling.
“We will always win,” Trump said.
“I am the greatest, the best, the most talented, the smartest, the strongest person to ever run this country.
We will never, ever, ever let this happen. “
And, I promise you, we will never let it happen.
We will never, ever, ever let this happen.
I mean, we won’t let it, because that would be bad.
But we will, and we will.”
In a tweet, Trump added that he is “looking forward to the day when we will be buying off the Democrats and their corrupt media allies to allow us to get on with the job of governing.”
He then tweeted that he was “looking for an easy way to get a win on Supreme Court” as “a win for the great American workers” would “go a long way toward keeping us safe.”
Trump has not yet indicated whether he plans to use the 5-4 ruling to overturn a lower court decision that upheld the President’s executive order to temporarily halt immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.
“The American people, including the judges and the American citizens, have spoken loud and clear.
This is not about politics, this is about national security, it is about America,” Trump added.
“You are our future.
You are our heroes.
And now it’s time to show the American people that our country is still united and ready to take them on.”
The Supreme Court was not the only court in recent days to rule on the President.
On Monday, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled in favor of the President, ruling that he cannot withhold funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
The administration also appealed to the Supreme Judicial Court, which ruled on Tuesday that the President can no longer revoke visas for refugees from the Middle East.
On Tuesday, the United States Court of the Appeals for Veterans Affairs also sided with the President and blocked a VA plan to award contracts to contractors who would provide abortions.
